Top Ten 2020 Recipes

2020 has been a unique year to say the least! Here at UGA SNAP-Ed, we had a great time providing you with recipes to meet your family’s needs. To celebrate, we are counting down our best recipes of 2020.

10. Apple Bread Pudding

This recipe is so yummy, and it goes great with a drizzle of your favorite icing and a big glass of milk. For an easy icing glaze, combine 1 cup of sifted powdered sugar with 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional) and 2-3 tablespoons of skim milk or water.

9. Yogurt Crunch Parfait

Layered glasses of cereal, yogurt, and berries

We love how customizable this parfait is–that must be why it is such a hit! Change up the flavors of the yogurt, cereal, and type of fruit to give this parfait your own twist.

8. Three Ingredient Cookies

These cookies are so much fun to make with kids. They are a great introduction to using the oven and kids will be able to safely snack on the uncooked batter because the ingredients are just bananas, oats, and cinnamon. One reader even added chocolate chips! Yum!

7. Ramen with Veggies

Bowl of ramen noodles with colorful veggies and a hardboiled egg

With this recipe, you’re just four ingredients away from a meal. Adding just a portion of the seasoning packet still gives it great flavor without overdoing it on sodium. Plus, the egg and veggies will keep you fuller for longer!

6. Skillet Mac and Cheese

One dish mac and cheese to feed a whole family? Yes, please! Many of our readers had the great idea of switching up the veggie in this skillet mac: Try shredded zucchini or carrots to add some pizazz!

5. Black Bean and Sweet Potato Veggie Burger

This vegan veggie burger is so hearty and delicious. It’s a little sweet from the sweet potato, a little savory from the beans, and has a kick from the chili powder and pepper. Save this one for your next cookout!

4. Mushroom Reuben Sandwich

This is another vegan meal that has us drooling! In this recipe, we even give you a vegan Thousand Island dressing recipe, which puts you in control of the flavor and sodium.

3. Chicken Noodle Soup

Go classic and follow this recipe or use it as a guide to swap out ingredients for the veggies and noodles you prefer. Using leftover, canned, or frozen cooked chicken is a serious time-saver!

2. Sheet Pan Chicken and Vegetables

Red plate with a seasoned chicken thigh and pile of seasoned carrots and potatoes

Another one dish recipe that is a real crowd-pleaser! This recipe makes a full meal on one sheet pan, which makes clean-up a breeze. The trick is to heat up the pan in the oven before adding the veggies and chicken to help the ingredients brown.

1. Slow Cooker Vegetarian Lasagna

Pasta, cheese, and tender veggies create the perfect lasagna … This one is made even better by being a slow cooker recipe! All the ingredients, even the lasagna noodles, go in raw. In 3-5 hours, dinner is served!

Happy New Year! Thank you all for making FoodTalk.org a place for us to come together and learn about food, nutrition, and more. Here’s to 2021!
