How to make fro-yo drops

Fro-yo drops are the perfect summer treat. Easy and colorful, your kids will love helping you make these. They’ll love eating them even more!

What is a fro-yo drop?

A fro-yo drop is a frozen disc of blended fruit and Greek yogurt. Because it’s made with Greek yogurt, this frozen treat can have more protein and less sugar than ice cream.

How do I make fro-yo drops?

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup Greek yogurt, the flavor of choice. We use yogurt with less than 12g added sugar per serving, so be sure to check the sugar on the nutrition facts label.
  • 1/2 cup cubed fresh fruit of choice. Try sweet fruit, like ripe mango or strawberries, to balance the tart in the Greek yogurt.

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment OR spray it with non-stick spray. If you have a blender, blend the fresh fruit until smooth. Don’t have a blender? Simply crush smaller fruit, like strawberries or blueberries, in a bowl the best you can with a fork. Add the yogurt to the fruit and stir the mixture. Transfer the mixture to a plastic bag and cut a hole in the corner to pipe out yogurt “drops.” If you crushed the fruit by hand, you will need to cut a larger hole in the corner so the larger pieces of fruit can fit through.
  2. Squeeze “drops” of yogurt onto the prepared baking sheet in rows. Put the baking sheet in the freezer until the dots are frozen. This can take from 2 to 24 hours. [1]
  3. Once the dots freeze, you can eat them immediately or you can transfer them to a freezer-safe container to be enjoyed later. The dots can be kept in the freezer for up to 1 month.
